What's the Big Idea?

My big idea came to me several days back.  Since then, I've been checking on some stuff to see how feasible it would be.  Turns out, it's completely feasible, so here goes!

Because I'm planning to be on the trail already this summer and I plan to take a boatload of awesome photos, I've decided to turn that into something more productive than a full jump drive.  I'm going to make an Appalachian Trail Yearbook for the 2014 hikers!

mock cover--the real one will be much cooler

Many hikers are too concerned with mileage and weight to get all the photos and contact info they may want.  I will be able to fill in the gaps for the 2014 hikers with scenic photos of the trail, but also with EVERY HIKER I CAN FIND.  I will publish trail names along with photos to help jog memories a few years down the road.  Also, any hikers who wish can add their email/trail journal/blog to the index for contacting each other back in the real world.

I will probably make one extra trip to the trail to get the majority of hikers just before and during Trail Days in Damascus, VA.  Other than that, I'll get people during our hike and our trip to New York (Sobos!!).

I've already been in touch with the publisher and the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, so it looks like this is really going to happen!  I'm excited.  =D
